Get ready for three weeks of music learning, friendly competition and prizes with the Music Ecademy School Championship 2026!

The championship is designed to encourage students across Australia and New Zealand to strengthen their music theory and aural skills while having fun and competing alongside their classmates.

Schools already using Music Ecademy this year will be entered automatically. Schools new to Music Ecademy can enter up to 20 students free for the duration of the competition.

Dates: Monday 31 August – Friday 18 September 2026 (3 weeks)

Start: Monday, 31 August, 9am NZST | 7am (AEST)

End: Friday, 18 September, 7pm NZST | 5pm (AEST)

Results announced: Monday 21 September 2026

All schools with an active Music Ecademy subscription are automatically enrolled in the championship.

How to join?

Existing schools:

All schools with an active Music Ecademy subscription are automatically entered. Your existing student accounts and classes can take part, so there is no need to register again.

New schools:

Schools that are not currently using Music Ecademy can enter up to 50 students free for the duration of the championship.

What do students do?

Students earn points by:

• completing lessons
• finishing quizzes
• answering questions correctly
• working through music theory, aural training and curriculum activities

The more students learn and complete, the more points they earn for themselves and their class.

How to get started

1. Log in using the username and password provided by Music Ecademy.
2. Choose an area to work on, such as music theory, aural training or school curriculum.
3. Select a grade or level appropriate for your ability.
4. Take the placement test if you are unsure where to begin.
5. Complete lessons and quizzes to earn XP points.

Prizes and Certificates

The top class in New Zealand and top class in Australia will each receive a $100 gift card towards a class pizza party (Prezzy Card in NZ and Giftzy Card in Australia).

Top 3 classes in New Zealand and top 3 classes in Australia get a special certificate for the class.

Each student that participates (and gains a certain number of points) will gain a certificate

Bronze: 2000 Ecademy xp points

Silver: 5000xp Ecademy xp points

Gold: 10,000xp Ecademy xp points

Student certificates will be available to download from the Music Ecademy app once the event has concluded and results are finalised.
