Curriculum and Content

How is the curriculum constructed?

The curriculum is developed with reference to all major examination boards used in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The curriculum is updated regularly (at least monthly) to ensure that Music Ecademy is taking full advantage of advances in music education pedagogy and technology.

What grade system do you follow?

We currently offer curricula based on ABRSM, Trinity College, AMEB and NZMEB. We are also working on St Cecilia and High School Curricula. If you would like to know when these are ready you can sign up for our newsletter in the page footer.

Does Music Ecademy use British or American terminology?

Music Ecademy  uses British terminology but introduces American terminology in later grades.

Can my students work on more than one grade?

Yes. The full subscription to Music Ecademy gives you open access to all the theory grades, aural trainer, placement tests, and game mode.

Do students have to start the course at the beginning?

No, students can start in whichever grade is appropriate for their level. We have level testing which suggests to students where they should start the course.

How do I know what level I am?

We have placement tests to give students an idea of where in the course they should start.

Who marks Music Ecademy?

The computer system automatically marks the questions. With a teachers account you can also add feedback for your students on questions that they have attempted. This helps teachers give extra support and feedback if they wish.

What ages does Music Ecademy cater to?

We firmly believe you are never too old or young to learn music! Music Ecademy is designed to be easily used by students aged 7 and above, and adult students can get as much benefit as school aged learners.

Can adults use it?

Yes, it is fun for all ages! We do have adult and University aged learners using the program.

What device do I need to use Music Ecademy?

Music Ecademy works on any device with an internet connection,  microsoft, android and apple. Although it does work on smartphones we do recommend using a computer, laptop or tablet as it is easier to use on a larger screen.

Can my students access Music Ecademy from anywhere?

Yes. Music Ecademy can be accessed on any computer with an Internet connection.

Can we share login details between our students?

No.  Each user has progress data associated with it, so students who share logins will not have a clear indication of their personal progress.

Which schools use this software?

Music Ecademy is used by music studios and schools around NZ, Australia and the UK.

If I wanted to see what my students are doing will it cost me anything?

Absolutely nothing! Teacher’s accounts are free with student sign-ups. This means you will be able to see what your students are learning and how they are progressing.

For Teachers

How do I sign up my students?

We have 2 options for signing up your students. Either you can ask us for a coupon code and your students can sign up individually through the website. Students can pay securely via PayPal or by credit or debit card. The code will give the students the teacher discount and also allow us to group the students under your teachers account (should you want one). This option is best for private music teachers wanting to sign up a few students.

The second option we have is to do a bulk enrolment. We organise and set up the number of accounts that you need and send through the log in details for your students. We then invoice your school, university or studio directly and can be paid by credit card, direct deposit, or cheque. This option is best for large enrolments.

How much does a teachers account cost?

Absolutely nothing! Teachers accounts are free with student sign-ups. This means you will be able to see what your students are learning and how they are progressing.

How do I use my teachers account?

We have an instructional video and a PDF document showing you the features of the teachers account. You can find these on our documentation & guides page. If you need any more help just send us an email and we will be happy to help!

Can a school have multiple teachers accounts?

Yes! We can provide as many as you need for your school. We can separate the students into their classes and group them under there teacher so that each teacher can easily see their students. If you are the head of music we can let you see all of the students by class, so you can keep an eye on things!

Can I see the same content that my students can see?

Yes you can. You can see all the course material just like your students, which makes it easy to know what they have been doing.

Can I see how my students are progressing?

Yes! We have progress tracking so that you can see in each grade what your students have attempted and completed. This let’s you know where they are excelling and where they might need extra help.

Can I see and print reports?

Yes! We have an option to view and to print individual student reports as well as to download all of your students grades as a spreadsheet.

I have multiple children in my family, can I sign them all up at once?

Yes! We have family enrolments for up to 5 children (5 accounts). You can use the drop down menu on the sign up page to select the number of accounts you would like.

How do I sign up multiple students?

If you would like to sign up multiple students please contact us directly and we will organise it for you. We will then invoice you, or the academic institution directly.

I am a school, how do I pay?

If you are an academic institution doing a bulk enrolment we will invoice the school, studio, or university directly. You can then pay by credit card, direct deposit, or cheque.

Are there discounts for schools?

We do offer academic pricing for schools, universities, music studios and music teachers. For a quote please email us at info@musicecademy.com.

How do I register for a free trial?

Email us at info@musicecademy.com, or fill in the form on our teachers page and we will be happy to arrange a free trial.
